QUICK EVENT OVERVIEW
The SPARTAN MARCH is a 25 km military ruck march, participants have six hours to complete the 25 km (15.5 mile) route carrying a 10kg or 20kg pack. The march took place in South Italy, former Magna Graecia or Greater Greece amid the ancient ruins of Poseidonia. An amazing route surrounded by stately Doric temples, Ancient Greek archaeological marvels, thick pine-woods, Mediterranean scrub and sandy beaches! A beautiful tour through historical places and allows you to admire the beauty of Magna Graecia. The purpose of the march is commemorate and honor the sacrifice of King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans, demonstrate the physical preparedness of our members, and promote the airborne brotherhood and the comradeship among soldiers of different nations. The Spartan March has been a tradition with the European Paratroopers since 2020 when the first ever Spartan March took place on 20th of September at Thermopylae in Greece to commemorate King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans on the Thermopylae Battle 2500th Anniversary. An unforgettable day of commemoration culminated in the 25km military ruck march on the historical battle place where twenty-five centuries ago the Spartans led by their King fallen fighting to the death in the epic struggle to secure the existence of the western mankind and a future for the European peoples.

AWARDS
The Spartan Order Medal will be awarded to all participants who will successfully complete the Spartan March. Special Category (25km march/weight 20kg) participants will get the Spartan Order Medal with Gold Sward Ribbon Clasp. Every year a participant successfully completes the march is marked by a Gold Number to be attached to the ribbon of the last medal awarded (after participating for the first time, the participant receives a medal. From the second time, they receive a medal with a gold number clasp attached to the grbbon).
Furthmore a completely unique special awards will be presented such as, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies to honour Special Category (25km march/weight 20kg) fastest 3 paticipants. Those trophies are a great prize to commemorate you success in spirit with the 300 Spartan Heroes. Our Spartan March unique sculpture trophies feature King Leonidas helmet. The helmets for different places come in different colors, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with unique engraved plaques in the same colors.
